Palazzo Busini - Bardi
The 'restoration' of palace Busini
November 2005

Palace Busini-Bardi is not an 'apartment house'

"Is still possibile to do something for the Palazzo Bardi Vernio in Via de 'Benci ? The City of Florence really wants to leave the property speculation a jewel of Renaissance culture, unique for its architectural, historical and cultural? Really the hall that hosted meetings of the celebrated Camerata dei Bardi, and which originated in the Italian musical theater and that was the seat of the first meetings of the Accademia della Crusca must be transformed into a living room-kitchen ? In any other part of the world such a "good", a national monument, it would have been valued as cultural center, museum, exhibition center on the opera. What is happening at the Palazzo Bardi is a real scandal. Who bears responsibility for this mess?"

Prof. Alessandro Magini - Direttore Centro Bardi

Report on the project of renovation and re-use in the course of the Palazzo Bardi-Busini in Via de 'Benci, Florence - Nulla Osta of the Architectural Heritage of Florence.

"The cultural heritage can not be destroyed, damaged or used for purposes not compatible with the historic and artistic character, or such as to prejudice their conservation"

Art. 11, capo II della n.1089 del 1\6\39 recepito dal Testo Unico n.490/1999, art. 21 e art.20 Nuovo Codice dei BB.CC.

'To define an Restoration: any operation to maintain, to facilitate the reading and transmit the work in full to the future. "re."

"I'm not allowed: 2) remozioni or demolition work which break through time. 4) alterations of ancillary conditions and environmental issues came up in our time, the work of art"e"

" It highlights the need to consider all the operations of restoration under the substantial conservative profile, respecting the elements added and innovative interventions while avoiding or recovery. Again in order to ensure the survival of the monuments, it should also carefully considered the possibility of new uses of the ancient monumental buildings, when they do not appear incompatible with the interests of art-historical. The adaptation work should be kept to a minimum, carefully preserving the external forms and avoiding sensitive alterations to the individuality of types, body building and to the sequence of the inside."

Paper of Italian Restoration 1972 - Circolare n° 117 del 6 aprile 1972 MINISTERO DELLA PUBBLICA ISTRUZIONE

"To define Restoration: administrative attention are those that tend to the preservation of the building complete, the restoration of its historic values ??and of the structural and architectural. The surgery of restoration is to attempt to maintain an intended use of the same or similar in its spatial consequences, distribution and typological to the original."

From 'Implementing technical standards' to the Detailed Plan Executive of the Historical Center of Vicenza. Definition of interpretative teminologia used in the legislation of the PP.

Known status of the project, given the situation of the site and the information get there by professionals, it remains only to keep you updated on a controversial restructuring that involves a building of outstanding architectural and historical value of which have not been affected organs of information:

We talking about the non-conservative restoration of the palace Busini - Bardi Via de' Benci in Florence , Brunelleschi building of the allocation of inestimable historical value. Built around 1420-27 , represents a milestone in the Florentine renaissance architecture and is recognized as such by generations of scholars . Along with the contemporary building of Niccolo Capponi from Uzzano - of Ruined ( Via de 'Bardi ) represents the first example of the "Court of Honor " of a civil architecture of the '400. The building , abandoned for decades, deserved to be acquired by a public entity and intended for reuse compatible to its historic character , not the last destination in the museum as happened in post-war building to Davizzi - Alessandra . The building has been the subject instead of an ordinary restructuring the same way as an ordinary residential condominium . The work was initiated with a DIA ( Home Activity Report of the second dpr n.380/2001 Article 22 (L) paragraph 3) together with nothing Osta of Architectural Heritage of Florence and aimed at a purely speculative real estate: get 21 private apartments around the courtyard to the Renaissance Florentine elite tourism , see advertising initiative for some time online: brochure and web cameratafiorentina.com ex (www.palazzobardi.com).

Professionals in contact with the yard indicated to us that it is a destructive and restoration likely that most of the historical materials from the floors are ending up in landfills. Unfortunately, it is not surprising that the work may allow the splitting of apartments in a building of Brunelleschi's award , however, remains puzzling that the practice of reuse of the building is dictated solely by the intentions of the private rather than a necessary supervision of the Superintendent and the restoration of Cards . Of this costume we have a long- bodied Italian archive everything we're trying to give documentation and publication. However, the thing that we have still not entirely clear how it is possible that all the wealth of knowledge of the Italian university with major restoration professionals , design history and end up staying inert or even indifferent in the face of such a massive and generalized " assault on the heritage " that the years of spa heritage and the new code on bb.cc relaunched in forms so proterve and monumental ?

We urge you to follow up on this report because this "black hole" can find light and represent a repeatable event of transparency and information to other government officially "sensitive to the protection of heritage.
